Bandarawela is on the southern edge of the mountainous region. Bandarawela has been popular with Sri Lankans and foreign visitors for many years and is one of the country’s oldest tea planters’ resting places. The surrounding area offers fantastic period accommodation, while the beautiful scenery and generally idyllic weather provide a refreshing change from the lowland heat and cool surroundings of Nuwara Eliya. Bandarawela is an excellent base for exploring the scenic and less-visited attractions of the mountainous region.
